Ride to Wolf Lake

08/26/2006 - 8:00am
08/26/2006 - 10:30am

This is a wonderfully varied and mostly uninterrupted ride along the lakefront trail, on street bike lanes, and the Burnham Greenway (paved trail) to the improbably beautiful Wolf Lake. The sights will change so quickly before your eyes that we'll reach our destination before you know it, and when you see it, you won't believe we're still in the city. We'll enjoy the view (and plumbing) for a quick pit stop then head back and swing through another little gem on the way.

Invite *your* cycling sisters and join us! And if you plan to join us, please email me so I know to look for you at 8:00.

20 miles. Social pace (10-12 mph). Bring water and snack for refueling at Wolf Lake. Helmets required.

RSVP and for more info, email agapay@alum.berkeley.edu

Ride starts at 57th Street Beach House.
The 57th Street Beach House is on the lakefront trail, between the lake and the Museum of Science and Industry in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

This map shows the 57th Street underpass which is right at the beach house:

If you're taking the CTA, these buses stop nearby: 1, 6, and 28.

For tips on how to put your bike on a CTA bus or train, see

and scroll down to "Bike & Ride Program".

If you're driving, you can easily find parking at the 63rd Street beach. Parking is east of the intersection of Hayes Drive and S. Lake Shore Drive.

This google map shows Hayes and S. LSD clearly:
