Tinley Creek Trail ride07/26/2008 - 10:00am 07/26/2008 - 12:00pm Come join us for a ride through the beautiful forest preserve of Tinley Creek on the far south side. The ride goes through mature oak-hickory forest as well as some short grass prairie acreage. Much of the ride is in the shade which is nice during the heat of summer. Seemingly miraculously, this ride feels like it's 95% downhill, even though you end up where you start! Ride length: ~10 miles, completely off road on paved trails Ride leader: Jane Healy Contact: day of event cell phone (708) 308-8662 or repto at aol dot com. Meet at Rubio Woods (143rd/Midlothian Turnpike, about 1/2 mile E. of Harlem Ave.) at 10 am. Bring water. (There are pumps at a couple of f.P. shelters in the area). You might want to bring sunscreen and bug repellent, if those are issues for you. Binoculars might be worth bringing as well, if you are into birding. |
